But how do you properly transport your wedding dress? And how best to store it at home? You can read all this and more in this blog.

Koonings’ stylist tips:
- It starts with transporting the dress correctly. Are you coming by car? It’s best to place the dress with garment bag all over the back seat to avoid wrinkles. If this is not possible, hang the dress from the rear handle and spread the length in the footwell of the car.
- At home, it is best to store your wedding dress in a dry, cool and shady place without direct sunlight to avoid discoloration. It is important to hang the dress full length. Therefore, it is best to hang it on a hanger on a door or closet and remove it from the bag so that it can hang in the air – this prevents wrinkles.
- Make sure the dress does not hang by the straps, but by the loops (attached to the inside of the dress) on the hanger so that it does not lose its shape.
- And of course: ask your stylist for advice and tips. They know the models and materials best and can tell you until your wedding day exactly how best to treat the fabric.

- Never put the wedding dress in your checked luggage at the counter; unfortunately, the risk of losing it or arriving too late at your destination is too great. Therefore, it is better to take it with you as hand luggage (in a garment bag). Be sure to contact the airline and inquire about their transportation guidelines in advance.
- If there’s no other way and you have to transport the dress in a carry-on, make sure to remove it from the garment bag and use tissue paper to transport the wedding dress as gently as possible. If you have pearls and crystals on your dress, it is important to cover them sufficiently with tissue paper – on the one hand to protect them, but also to protect the fabric from scratches.
- Once you arrive at your destination, we recommend leaving the dress hanging neatly on a hanger.
