Looking for the perfect wedding music for your wedding party?
We’re going to help you with that. Perhaps one of the most important parts of planning, the wedding music during your wedding party. Music can bring out emotions; music can tell your personal story, or perhaps that of your loved ones.
We are all familiar with the song we first shuffled to. Moreover, assess whether the music played during the ceremony fits the theme and, of course, during the ceremony. It is important to sit together and think about whether you have any special songs together. For example, was there a special song played when your partner proposed? Did your parents play a beautiful song during their wedding? Music brings out emotions. Music can tell your personal story, or perhaps that of your loved ones.
Music can contribute to this and also provides moments of calm in the ceremony between the official part. We all remember Queen Maxima’s tears. Carel Kraayenhof played ‘Adiós Nonino’ when her father could not attend the wedding. The trembling lip, the look at Willem Alexander and, of course, the tears. This is what music does!
In a legal ceremony, there are usually 3-5 songs possible at the municipality. These moments are often entry, after wedding ceremony/kissing, during deed signing and a closing song.
During a church ceremony, around 6 to 8 songs are sung on average at the following moments: entry, interlude, lighting the wedding candle, preparing the table, communion, Ave Maria and closing song.
When you want to organise an unforgettable party, a live band is of course the obvious option! Live music ensures that your guests can dance to their heart’s content, and a band naturally responds to the wishes of you and your audience. Will the old bangers from the 80s come back to life? If so, they will spin a little more to make the party a success!
The Ceremony
The ceremony is the moment at your wedding that you carry with you the longest. The moment you walk down the aisle, the moment you say “yes” and the moment you finally leave the ceremony as husband and wife are all moments you will never forget. The music you choose for this is therefore an important part. Below, we have listed some of our favourites.
Entrance to the party
As you enter the party, you can immediately set the mood. Do you go for a romantic mood, a jazzy sound or can the roof go right off? And how do you create that festive mood right away? One thing is for sure, happy and danceable music is always good and we have some examples for you.
Opening dance
The opening dance is the first moment you dance as a married couple. This is a super romantic moment between you and your partner and you often see this reflected in the choice of music for this moment. Here we have listed the perfect songs for this special dance.
The party
This is the time to let loose. All your guests and, of course, the bride and groom gather on the dance floor to celebrate your love together. The snacks and drinks are brought round and the Dutch hits should not be missing for that real togetherness and party feeling. Therefore, we have made a list of songs you don’t want to miss at your wedding party.
The last song
This is the conclusion of this beautiful day. The last moment before you leave for the wedding night. You can end this with a real hit or a quiet song. These are some examples for inspiration.
We hope you got inspiration for your ultimate choice of music. We have created a playlist on Spotify to give you a hand with the first steps towards a music list that suits you.

Nuance Magazine interviewed Ramona. A glossy magazine with human interest stories. In this edition, she interviewed our Ramona Koonings, and we are happy to share the result with you.
Power woman, born entrepreneur with the world’s largest bridal fashion store, designer of her wedding dress collection, TV personality, and family man: Ramona Koonings is it all. Her success story is well known, and rightly so.
When she was barely 17, she and her mother Ineke took over the Koonings bridal fashion store in Deurne in Brabant. Thanks to her unbridled ambition, she grew the company into Koonings The Wedding Palace, where brides from all over Europe come for the perfect day of their lives: “Mr. and Mrs. Koonings saw my drive and my will to learn and myself to improve. They taught me everything, took me on purchasing, and involved me in human resources. Even though I was so young, when they wanted to entrust the matter to me, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Of course, under the name Koonings. It is a beautiful and royal name that fits what we stand for.”
It is an inspiring life story that appeals to the imagination that Ramona has told many times. She grew up in bridal fashion. Her mother worked at Koonings, and little Ramona participated in bridal fashion shows: “I was often in the business from an early age. I saw Mr. and Mrs. Koonings doing business, which attracted me. So I slowly grew into it.”
However, it was not immediately apparent that she would grow into such a successful entrepreneur in primary school. Ramona had dyslexia, but little was known about that term then: “I was not very good at school because of that. Reading has always been something for me. Classmates finished a book in a day; it took me at least a week. Then I was thrilled that I had finished it, and even then, I often did not understand what I had read. (laughs) It wasn’t just the dyslexia; I was always busy with many other things in my head.”
The young Ramona just knew that if she could show herself and were given opportunities, she would grab them: With a total of about 11,000 square meters of space for a fantastic shopping experience and everything for an unforgettable wedding day, Koonings The Wedding Palace can now rightfully call it the largest bridal fashion store in the world.
Therefore, the sensational opening in 2018 was with numerous well-known guests and pressed from home and abroad. Ramona has thought about every detail in the fairytale palace. She also designed and drew it all by herself, down to the minor information: “In my head, I knew exactly how I wanted it, and I like to draw, that used to be my best subject at school. My drawings always had to be accurate to perfection; only then was I satisfied.”
Designer of her own collection
She also expresses creativity in her Ramona Koonings Couture bridal dress collection: “When everyone has gone home in the evening, and peace has returned, I sit behind my desk designing. I have not done any training in it, but through my years of experience, I know what brides like and have a lot of knowledge of fabrics, design, and bridal couture. It’s just like with my business; I learned by just doing.”
Koonings, The Wedding Palace, has a vast collection of no less than 4,500 dresses in stock. Are designers now queuing up at her doorstep to work with her? Ramona laughs: “We have all the major brands in our collection, with whom we have worked for years. I’m pretty loyal, and I think that’s the best thing because then you can make good agreements and be interesting to each other. It’s a fairly stable world; a wedding dress is a wedding dress. However, there are trends, of course. Now these are, for example, trouser suits, dresses with a low back, and lots of shine and glitter. Nowadays, a second dress is also being selected for the evening.”
Ensuring the most beautiful day of your life, in all its subtleties, is what Ramona and her team are passionate about every day. This starts online: you can look on social media and the website, fill in your general wishes, and make an appointment. After that, the experience of your big day starts with a visit to the sensational wedding palace. You will be amazed by the glamorous surroundings, full of wedding dresses, wedding suits, fashion for bridesmaids, festive children’s clothing, gala and cocktail fashion, shoes, accessories, and goodies. There is also a beauty salon and a restaurant for a delicious lunch, snack, or drink. You can even turn it into an exclusive event with your group in a private room. And Koonings has a recently added wedding car rental with a Rolls Royce. Ramona: “You can come to us for every party in your life, from christening dresses to party wear for your gold or diamond wedding.”
A real family business
Koonings has a close-knit team of 80 people for all these different disciplines. Mother Ineke, Ramona’s bonus father, and her sister also work there: “I like it that everyone feels at home with us. Not only the brides but also our employees. In addition, you have to have the drive to sell. We have our induction process, with coaches who train you as a new employee. Together we work seven days a week on that one goal: to give every bride the day of her life. Everything has to be correct. You fit in with us if you have that same enthusiasm and passion.
Koonings has been working with Crowe Foederer (then called Contour) for a long time, which was also involved in the takeover by Ramona and her mother and the purchase and construction of the new buildings: “I have been working with my contact person Johan Kuipers from an early age. Together, it is always there for me. We have become a lot bigger; I have outsourced more. That is sometimes difficult, for you have to get the right people in the right places. And it should also remain simple. I want to be big by staying small and close to the people. No complicated systems; in the end, it’s all about the customer coming here and being satisfied. You don’t need thick books full of policy plans for that.”
Is there anything Ramona can’t do? She laughs: “There are 24 hours daily, and I fill them up quite a bit. I am now also the mother of a two-year-old son. Fortunately, he can be here with me all day long. My work is everything; I have the best job there.”

On 1 April, we celebrated Ramona’s son Robert’s second birthday here at Koonings. The whole party was in circus theme. Of course, with a beautiful party comes a beautiful cake in style. Here at Koonings, we are better with wedding dresses than baking, so we asked Démy from Deemz Pastry to create a sweettable in style for this party.
Démy has a great passion and creativity for baking. She graduated as a pastry chef in 2017. Her mission is not only to make beautiful creations and delicious creations but also to make them accessible to everyone. Having experienced up close that people with allergies cannot always enjoy some delicious treats, she feels it is important that her allergy-free bakes taste just as good as all her “normal” cakes. Besides birthday cakes, Démy also makes the most beautiful wedding cakes. She also does not shy away from a fully decorated sweettable filled with cakepops, macarons and cupcakes. And that is exactly why we asked Deemz Pastry to create an appropriate cake and sweettable for our big circus party.
Of course, your wedding is not complete without a fine party to celebrate you getting married. Again, a party is not complete without fine music. And let’s be honest, live music is always the most fun. We recently organised a big party and invited Jip & Daym to perform.
We came across the gentlemen by chance. A fresh look and extensive repertoire made us book the men for the birthday party of Robert, Ramona’s 2-year-old son. The guest list was quite varied with guests ranging in age from 2 to 90, so we were looking for a musical act that would please everyone. Jip & Daym, the two of them, managed to fill the whole room with atmospheric music. Before the party, we were able to discuss with the men what kind of music we wanted to hear and they also knew exactly what the guests wanted.
Guitarist Jip and pianist Daym met at the Conservatory and have been a musical duo ever since. With buckets of fun and a passion for music, they play at all kinds of parties. From quiet and atmospheric background music to your favourite covers that make guests dance, Jip & Daym play it. That versatility, the nice contact and the successful party make us want to recommend this musical act for your wedding.
On Jip & Daym’s website, you can find all the information and get in touch.
As a groom, you are naturally looking for the perfect suit for an unforgettable wedding day. Above all, buying a wedding suit should be a fun experience. But what can you expect on such a first appointment? In this blog, we will explain as much as we can!
Timing is everything!
A huge amount of time goes into organising a wedding. Once you have set the date, there are a number of things that need to be arranged in good time. So one of the most frequently asked questions is: “How long in advance should I start picking out my wedding suit?” Picking out a wedding suit is a bit different from buying jeans. Once you have succeeded in choosing your suit, you don’t just walk out of the shop with it. You may have found a beautiful suit but want it in a different colour, so we still have to order your suit. Of course, your suit must also fit perfectly, which is why our atelier always makes your suit to size. We therefore advise you to make your first appointment at least 4 months before your wedding. Then we can make sure you can look forward to your wedding day without any stress. Have you made an appointment but are unable to attend? Then we would really appreciate it if you could cancel your appointment 24 hours in advance so that we can adjust our planning accordingly.
The first appointment
When you visit Koonings, you will be welcomed by our hostesses in the main hall where you and your entourage can take a seat. This is where your personal stylist will pick you up and you will go together to our men’s department. Then comes the moment where you can discuss your wishes and budget with your stylist. It is always nice for the stylist if you have some photos of the suits you like. This will quickly give the stylist a good idea of what suits you. If your fiancé has also bought a wedding dress or a wedding suit at Koonings, a big advantage is that your stylist can also look at what suits your fiancé’s wedding dress or suit without telling you what your fiancé’s wedding outfit looks like! After this, you and the stylist will go into the shop together to look for wedding suits you want to try on. Nice to know: an average appointment takes about 1.5 hours. If you are unable to make your choice during this first appointment, you are of course always welcome to make another appointment later. In that case, the stylist will note which suits you have tried on and what you might be unsure about so that she or a colleague can help you as much as possible next time.
Your entourage
Picking out a wedding suit is obviously a special moment and certainly adds to the anticipation of your wedding day. Your appointment is therefore not complete without the people who are important to you and who can give you sincere and honest advice. On average, a groom takes about 4 people with him as entourage. Of course, you can always bring more people, everyone is welcome at Koonings. Our experience is that a large entourage does not always make the choice of a wedding suit easier. Many people make for many opinions. For us, it is very nice to know in advance how many people your entourage consists of. We can then take this into account when planning the fitting rooms.
Don’t forget…
…to enjoy! Everything is ready for your appointment. So you don’t need to bring anything but good sense and your entourage. We have everything in our men’s department to provide you with a complete look. From head to toe you will be dressed and styled with shoes, tie, cufflinks and other accessories. Perhaps you already have accessories you would like to wear on your wedding day. In that case, you can of course bring them to your appointment. Do you already have an idea of what your wedding suit should look like? Your stylist likes it if you can show pictures of suits you like. You can see an indication of the suits from our collection on this page. Of course, you can also search on google for styles you like.
Are you ready to make your first fitting appointment yet?
We welcome you and hope to give you an experience you will never forget.
On Valentine’s Day, we proudly and lovingly present the new Ramona Koonings Couture collection. With this fourth collection of wedding dresses, Ramona Koonings, owner of Koonings The Wedding Palace, is again at the helm of her unique wedding dress line. Beautiful, romantic, sexy, and trendy dresses also characterize this collection.
This latest collection is also the result of Ramona’s years of experience and knowledge. She knows better than anyone what kind of wedding dress brides are looking for. This experience ensures a sparkling new collection with the latest trends in bridal fashion. Ramona has designed a line with her design team for brides who want to make a statement on their wedding day. Each dress has a unique design with the most impressive details.
The latest trends in bridal fashion are all reflected in the designs of the Ramona Koonings Couture collection. We see many dresses with a slit, statement sleeves, 3D flowers, and glitter tulle. All methods ensure that the bride will be the radiant center. Due to the variation in silhouettes, there is a suitable wedding dress for every type of bride. Ramona and her design team believe it is essential that every bride can get married in a Ramona Koonings Couture dress. A large part of wedding dresses is therefore available in a curvy model. For these curvy wedding dresses, we have considered the reinforcement of bones and the raising of, for example, the décolleté and the back. All this without losing the look and feel of the wedding dress.
The Ramona Koonings Couture collection is unique and beautiful, like every bride.
